Annual Meeting to Showcase Latest Science in Soils, Crops, Agronomy
Three scientific associations of soil, crop and agronomic scientists will bring together about 4,000 of the brightest minds in their fields to share their research during the the 2024 ASA, CSSA, SSSA International Annual Meeting.
Held from Nov. 10-13 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio, #ACSmtg is expected to feature more than 3,000 scientific abstracts covering a wide variety of disciplines. The meeting is hosted by the Madison, Wis.-based American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America.
This year's theme, "AI Innovations for a Changing Climate," focuses on the role of AI in soil management, climate-smart farming, and forest mapping.
The opening keynote speaker is Dr. Susan Crow, an associate professor at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa who will speak about building health, resilience and equity into Hawaiian agriculture.
Plenary speakers will discuss their work quantifying greenhouse gas emissions in farmlands, studying pioneers in America’s botanical history and detailing the evidence for a legacy of liquid water on the surface of mars.
Meanwhile, authors of scientific papers will summarize more than 2,500 papers at more than 500 sessions.
Academic researchers comprise a majority of attendees, though the event includes many opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, including competitions and networking events.
